Let the (Naked Ice Dancing) Healing Begin
We've been through so much in the recent Winter Olympics, especially those brutal falls on the ice rink. On at least one occasion, the culprit seemed to be a wardrobe malfunction, that caused the skater to get snagged on her skirt and lose control.
Isn't obvious that ice skating would make more sense in the nude? Not to mention even more incredibly beautiful than it already is? I have proof:

I had such a deprived childhood. My parents wouldn't pay for me to have naked ice skating lessons. :(

Can naked curling be too far behind?
This excites my desire once more for naked yoga!

This rivals naked gymnastics.

Loved that video. Yes, I couldn't agree with you more. Ice skating is a true art and absolutely beautiful - skating in the nude would make it even more glamorous and they definitely wouldn't have to worry about all those problems they continuously have with their costumes.

Nude womens ice hockey...

Oooh...
What did the Japanese text say, anyway? And is this available on DVD?

I agree with Donna. I think it was meant to be a gag because of the flashing by the Russian ice dancer, but instead it's a really beautiful bit of film. Athletics is about physical excellence, so why shouldn't graceful sports like ice skating be performed naked?

How can anybody but agree?
On my site, DOMAI.com, I agitate for stuff like this all the time. To force beautiful young people to cover up is a crime against aesthetics.

This clip lifted my spirits and renewed me in such a delightful way. I have watched the sport of iceskating since Peggy Flemming captured my imagination as a child. I have been ever more alienated as the ever more agressive moves have encroached on the pure form (not unlike what has happened to my beloved art of surfing). What a return to purity!

Susie, I do belie yer spendn' way too much time watching those animations! Now, I wonder if that clip was shot for-real (if so, where, when and WHY?), or if it's a very clever case of digital jiggery-pokery?
"To force beautiful young people to cover up is a crime against aesthetics."
OTOH, certain kinds of coverings can be enhancements. Snug (but not absurdly tight) blue jeans are a case in point!

OH this is so sweet and beautiful! I work for NBC and everyone is freaking out about how low the ratings are. Besides the advantage audiences would get from such obvious natural beauty I think the networks could benefit from this evolution of the sport. I'm going to share this with some network execs so wish me luck!!! Maybe in 4 years???

Naked is pretty, yes, but god (goddess, dog, whatever your preference) help her if she should fall. Ouch!

I'm thinking they wear something so they don't get a blast of cold air in damp spots. Talk about sealing lips shut!
I'm also thinkin when they fall over, they don't want to end up tearing up skin on rough ice..
Plus you gotta worry about it being 16 year old girls...
But other than that, I'm all for it!

Yeah, but, BRRRR! And if you fall? Not Fun.

If you saw those spectacular falls and wipeouts at Turin, you know that the "flimsy bernoose" that covered the performers didn't do anything to comfort their fall.
This mystery girl is so pretty and plucky! I am dying to know who she is. Where are my Japanese fans to come explain it all?

I dunno. Making fun of the tacky costumes is half the fun of the Winter Olympics. (And I think even a thin little leotard would be better than nothing in a fall.)
It is pretty, though.

I lived in Japan for a number of years, and I can tell you this aint nothin' honey! The Japanese tend to be very, shall we say, forthright regarding what they consider sexy. And you have to understand that nudity is viewed quite differently than here in America. I'll never forget my trip to a mountain spa-retreat - everyone - men, women, children - wandered around quite naked, and quite happy to be so. It was about bathing, you see - not sex. Fascinating culture - lots of depth and variety. Your video now, is something most likely to be part of a game show – not really pornography. When I was there, the most popular show was called 11 plus 20 (the time of night it was on TV). They thought nothing of taking their cameras into a brothel and recording one of the patrons having sex. They of course asked him a multitude of questions – which was considered quite humorous. Funny – well, I don’t know about that; but arresting viewing – you betcha!

At Susie's request, I'm attempting a translation of the Japanese text on the video clip.
From right to left (as the Japanese read it):
Finally we've been able to capture a genuine all-nude sport on film. All-nude figure skater, Moriyama Miyu.
Isn't that poor woman cold?

THANK YOU SUSIE!!!!! Ive long thought about the grace and beauty(of FEMALE) skaters and how the scant wardrobe seems to actually take away from the event. Also, Their muscle tone(excepting the TOO young ones 17 and under!) Is exquisite and in and of itself would/could/should be a "asset" requirement for grading the skaters.
Show me a female skater without a nice firm perfect ass. They were meant to be seen and admired!

All of a sudden, it doesn't want to play---I hit "play" and it starts, but then stops and goes back to the beginning after a second or so.
I wish I knew where that guy found it---I'd archive it to my own machine.

How did I miss this post? this is amazing! I doubt this was shown on reg. primetime TV though...it would have had to have been after midnight with the pubes blurred!

The Olympics were originally performed in the nude. Why not now? The skater's physique is beautiful.
