Have you heard about the Lesbian Gang Threat video clip from the Bill O'Reilly show yet? It's both hilarious and aggravating.

What an amazing bit of fabricated news. The footage is completely unrelated and looks like some random women fighting. I was wondering why it was lesbians, instead of gay men attacking straights, but I guess dykes are a big enough threat now.

The sly racial angle is good too, where they make mention of racial gangs. It's even more deliciously ironic (and surely planned) that it's being reported by a black crime "expert." I remember a quote from your blog where you  quipped that "gays are the new blacks"— this is unfortunately very fitting.

The Marriott chain is one of the top dogs in the porn business, and I'm so glad the fundies  have provided the chance to point this out. American porn has become completely dominated by corporate influence— so if you don't like what you're seeing lately, now you know who to chalk it up to! The phone companies, the hotel chains, the auto business: they have uniformly bad taste and zero aesthetics.

In Oliver Sacks book 'The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat' he describes how a group a people with aphasia and agnosia see through the visual cues that normal folks just don't catch. When this group was shown footage of a certain B movie actor turned President during one of his addresses, they erupted into fits of hysteria every time they noticed the disconnect from the content and the actual visual cues being communicated. Oliver reported that there wasn't too much of a gap between fits of laughter. I would love to be in a room full of those folks during one of Dubya's speeches, but I am afraid I would get left at the hospital for fear of being considered disordered myself.

I remember the actual news story that this comes from. Three or four girls were walking around the meat-packing district really late at night, and this guy started cat-calling one of them. They all started giving each other a hard time, and then the women attacked and beat him.

They did get prison time, and the judge scolded them for escalating the whole thing and not dropping it before it got violent.

I have no idea about the truth behind the other stories, but I wouldn't be surprised if they all began similarly, with some ordinary idiot harassing what he thinks are just a bunch of girls, and the girls turning out to be pretty tough characters who are fed up with taking that sort of thing. No wonder they travel in groups! They may be thuggish, but I can see where they're coming from.

Aren't the "Pink Pistols" some kind of self-defense group? Gay men and lesbians who promote carrying guns as an anti-gay-bashing thing?

Kit, that article from the SPLC was EXCELLENT. they reveal all the dirt behind the story... the "crime expert" is one of Bush's fundie church lunatics, who got fired from being a cop, for smoking dope and went to work at McDonald's as one of their cops. And you know who recommends him? This is too rich: Tony Snow. SPLC writes, "Another ringing celebrity endorsemen is attributed to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow: "We turn to Rod Wheeler to help us better understand and solve some of these terrible crimes in America.""

Bill O'Reilly is a bully. The one thing a bully fears is that his victims will one day stand up for themseleves. The Pink Pistols are a threat because they are Liberals with Guns. Armed people are harder to bully. They might shoot back. BillO might actually get hurt by the people he bullies. We can't have that!
