My mom said she wanted to move back to Minnesota to be close to her grandmother's grave. When she moved to the Cities, she prepared a headstone for her own mother's grave, that had remained unmarked since she died in 1937. When I went to Minneapolis on a book tour many years later, I went to the cemetary in St. Paul where she had given me a map and spent hours and hours trying to find the gravestone without success. I am going to try again when I can nab a groundskeeper! I don't know where she is standing in this photo, but I wonder if it is the U of M.
