Betty Jo's Valentines

  • Rooster
These are valentines from my mother's childhood scrapbook, "Betty Jo" Halloran. They were sent and received, from her siblings, grandparents, cousins, and friends, from 1929 to 1938, in Fargo, North Dakota, and Minneapolis/St. Paul. Please enjoy them with my love. xoxo, Susie

Susie, please read Sheib's book: "White House Chef". He makes no claim to "Coca-Cola Brined Pilgrim's Pride Turkey with Dunkin’ Donuts Old-Fashioned Cake Doughnut Sweet and Savory Stuffing" -- that's an internet hoax.

Scheib does talk about the difference between the desires of the Clinton and Bush families, and they are quite different. But he also makes clear in the introduction that he will not do a kiss&tell memoir. Any dirt that he has on either First Family will not be revealed.

Tomorrow, my Thanksgiving menu has two new items, both from Sheib's book. Mrs. Clinton's (and Chelsea's) favorite hummus and Mrs. Bush's favorite Cranberry and Orange salsa. Both are very good. I'm looking forward to trying the other recipies in the book.

Oh, I know the "Donut" satire is not Scheib's work, heavens, no! Sorry if I didn't make that more clear; I've edited my post since you wrote.

I'm having cranberry and orange relish myself, although it's not peppery, like a salsa. But I love that orange flavor!
