I Was a Teenage Dominatrix: A Memoir, by Shawna Kenney
“An intelligent college student, short on cash, finds dominatrix work a viable way of making ends meet--there's no sex, it's great money, and there's plenty of time for homework.”
--Ginger Dzerk, Amazon.com
This is one of the best sex work memoirs I've ever read. I couldn't put it down.
From a working-class childhood, Shawna made her way into college supporting herself with odd jobs. She answered an ad for a dominatrix, and ended up with a lot to learn in a short period of time. She tells you all about being in power at such a young age, and bending the rules to fit her needs and capabilities.
Shawna's voice is distinct: humorous and true. She tells her story like she's sitting right next to you.
I Was a Teenage Dominatrix is in development as a TV series called “Whipped,” with Vince Vaughn executive producing and the FX Network attached.
Narrated by Johanna Parker, who we know from the superb Sookie Stackhouse series.
